  • The monthly prompt (under World > Prompts) and the monthly prompt gallery have been reopened and are now free to be submitted to once again! We apologize for any confusion them being closed may have caused.
  • Monthly prompt awards (specifically the ones in the award case on your profile, not prompt points) will be returning starting June 1st.
  • We will be removing Gachapon and Scribblie potions from the shop for the time being as we wish to rework them and change up their availability going forward. Apologies!
  • We are slowly beginning to work on some general quality-of-life changes/modernization of things around site and the Discord server - any important changes will be announced in the next newsletter!

Thank you for sticking around!

The Gachagon Historical Preservation Project! (Part 1)

Posted 2 weeks ago :: Last edited 2 weeks ago by 39friend

A new (old) friend has made their way to the Keep! Grandpon, the current oldest living Gachagon and Creamsicle’s grandpa, has returned after a long time away from the main hub of the Keep and is shocked to learn that most of the past Gachagon culture has gone away! Even his magical Book of Records isn’t up to date on the population of the species!!

Seeing the sadness of their kin and wanting to help revive the magic and spirits of old Gachagon history, Creamsicle offers to help Grandpon share the lost culture with modern Gachagons, starting with the first initiative of the Gachagon Historical Preservation Project!

The first part of their plan: Teach about the realm’s forgotten calendar system and restart the collection of Hatching Day Certificates! Both may seem like small things, but they are important in order to truly appreciate the realm that Gachagons, Scribblies, and Bitlings call home! Welcome to the very first lore event for the Gachagon Species!

With this, we have a small dialogue event you can read here! Please enjoy!

Take some time to meet and read about our newest NPC: Grandpon!

small_rainbow.png

We have been working hard since the ownership change to bring new life and lore to the species, and we hope you will enjoy participating in the first part of our 2-part lore event!!

In this first stage, please feel free to learn some new lore information regarding these magical world-hopping dragons below!

  • A new page regarding the life cycle of Gachagons has been added
  • New pages about Scribblies and Bitlings have been added!
  • A species-specific calendar page has been added! This page elaborates on celebrations, names of specific months, and more!
  • A lost piece of Gachagon history has been uncovered and is ready for you to read - it appears to be a poem that tells about what kind of character a Gachagon will have in relation to the month they were hatched in! It can be found on the calendar page linked above!
  • A new (and permanent) special prompt has been added for you to participate in! The Hatching Day Certificate can be filled out once per Gachagon, and is a form of formal registration of information about your Gachagon - what their name is, what month they were hatched in, and whatever other info is important about them! You are free to use our template (linked in the prompt description), or make your own with a similar format!
  • More pages regarding species history, lore, and much more are being worked on and will be released soon! We hope to also have artwork for the other species pages eventually, too, but for now you are able to still read about them with no issue!

The pages above will be added to the navigation bar as soon as possible, but for now, you can also find them under Encyclopedia > Info on the left-hand side of your screen!

By participating in this event and by submitting at least one hatch-day certificate and/or completing the temporary prompt, you will earn a badge for your profile, showing you were a part of the Gachagon HPP!

small_rainbow.png

The prompt for this month is special, as it will be the first of the Gachagon Calendar Specific Prompts! This month is the Month of Growth! It is a special time in the Gachagon realm: the rainy season has come and gone and new life is growing all around! There is even room for growth within each Keep species, especially with the new lore revelations! To learn more, see this page!

The Month of Growth prompt will last till May 21st!

Draw or write about your Gachagon either:
  • Learning something new from Grandpon about themselves or any of the Keep species as a whole
  • Filling out their own Hatching Day Certificate (which you can submit to the certificate-specific gallery here)
  • Experiencing the new growth in nature around them during the Month of Growth

RULES (ILLUSTRATED)

  • Your illustration must be (at the least) a halfbody with some form of background!
  • Your illustration must be, at the minimum, cleanly sketched and colored.
  • Your illustration MUST be submitted to the monthly prompt gallery! (As well as when submitting the prompt, you'll need to link to the gallery submission. Gallery submissions can still be linked to before official approval/while pending, so there should be no reason you can't link it when submitting your piece! Prompt submissions with outside links like Discord, sta.sh, etc. will be rejected.)

RULES: (WRITTEN)

  • Your written piece must be at the least 600 words long!
  • Use paragraph breaks, it makes it much easier for our mods to read over!
  • Your written piece MUST be submitted to the monthly prompt gallery!

small_rainbow.png

Lastly, we want to thank you all for your patience as we navigate the new direction Gachagons is going in! We understand the ownership change was sudden and that not much has been done in the last few months, but we have a lot of new and exciting things planned! Things are still a work in progress, but we hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

We hope you continue to enjoy our species and the characters we all have created together!

Event Credits:

  • togekissed: Grandpon’s design, writing of the dialogue event, Hatching Day Certificate templates, badge designs, F2U backgrounds
  • break: Art of Creamsicle and Grandpon, including the dialogue artwork
  • 39friend: Formatting, proofreading, and quality-of-life updates to pages

GENERAL UPDATES

Thank you all for being so patient during the ownership change in March! We have been working a lot behind the scenes during the last few weeks to help prepare for some new Lore Events that will be happening at the end of April and through the next few months.

Due to these updates, the site will be down for a whole week starting on April 7th. We will be adding some exciting new pages and prompts while the site is down, so there will be a lot for you all to look forward to! We will release a special newsletter with all pertinent information when the site comes back up!

March 2024 Newsletter

Posted 2 months ago :: Last edited 2 weeks ago by 39friend

Hello everyone! Monthly news for you all. This is an important newsletter regarding the state of things and the future of the Gachagon Keep, so we suggest you do read it in full.

small_rainbow.png

Species Ownership Change

After a fair bit of discussion spanning throughout the last few months, in late January of 2024 Digimon and 39friend mutually decided to pass main ownership of the Gachagon Keep and its species to a long-time member and admin, togekissed — in turn, Arata has decided to step down from his position as an owner of the species and manager of the site for a myriad of his own personal reasons. Though unfortunate, it was a long time coming, and it ended up boiling down to two final options we came to: either passing the ownership onto another, or shutting down the species in full. Luckily, Toge was gracious and willing enough to accept the position, which we are pleased to announce — and we thank her. :) We trust in her ability to run the species competently and with interest, and we hope you enjoy everything she has planned moving forward!

Due to the change, the species, website and Discord server will all be undergoing some reworking at togekissed's direction. Some of these changes will be things like the addition of some readable lore on-site (and a lore event), added NPCs, feature additions and removals, prompts and such that include more community involvement, the return of Gachapanions, condensing of the Discord server, and more. We will eventually post a newsletter listing and informing members of all changes we have made, similar to how we have done in the past with trait changes and the like. There is no set date for this newsletter to be released or for changes/reworks to be made — things will be fairly slow as usual as we work out the kinks and iron out how and what we are doing going forward.

This also means additional website features, maintenance, updates and bug fixes will also be slower as Toge and I (39friend) learn the ropes of Lorekeeper in Arata's absence. We apologize for any trouble this may cause — if you are having any issues with the site or notice something awry, please send in a report and we will get to it as soon as we are able.

We want to thank our community (especially our long-time and dedicated members) for their continued patience with us and for continued interest in our website and species. It means a lot to us all! We hope you enjoy what we have in store and that you continue to stick around.

Message from togekissed

Hi all!! I know this is a weird time for the species but I wanted to make a small statement as the new main owner!

For a short little intro: Hi! I go by Toge and I am sure many of y’all have seen and interacted with me for many years haha.

I have been following the species since it was in development by the original creator who no longer wishes to be associated with the species. This was my first ever experience being a part of a closed species, and I just fell in love with the concept of these special dragons! I joined the mod team early on into the life cycle of Gachagons and have been an active member ever since! I care deeply about the community that we all have built together, and want to continue to grow it with you all.

Rudy and Arata, along with all the current mod team, have done an amazing job transforming the Gachagon species into a fun and accessible space, with the website and quality of life changes. I hope to continue to add onto those as I am given the new role of owner of the species. Gachagons have been a strong passion project of mine since I joined when we first opened three years ago and I want to continue to foster an engaged community of artists and storytellers who are passionate about the colorful dragons we have all made together.

We will be continuing to work on the change of ownership for a while yet, but we are also working on a big lore event and adding new information to our little community! I hope you all continue to support us in the coming months!

Thank you all for participating in and loving this species as much as we do. Y’all are spectacular.

Message from 39friend

Hello everyone! As mentioned previously, Arata and I have mutually agreed upon passing on ownership of Gachagons to Toge, someone who I've personally been working with since pretty much the creation of the species. I'm super happy she was as willing as she was to take the lead of the Gachagon Keep - I didn't wish to see the species end prematurely, especially with the community we have in mind. I will be staying on as an admin for the foreseeable future and helping Toge as I am able. I am not personally taking sole ownership of the species myself for a variety of reasons, most of which are outlined in this Google document I've written to share and explain my current state involving the species. It's a bit personal, but I want to be transparent with the community about where my head is at going forward if you would like to read it.

Thank you for sticking with us. I'm looking forward to things to come!

March Prompt

This month’s theme is SPRING FLOWERS! Draw and/or write about how your Gachagons/other keep species feel about the season. Is it their favorite time of the year? What kind of weather do they prefer? Do they stop to smell the flowers?

The March prompt will last till March 31st!

RULES (ILLUSTRATED)

  • Your illustration must be, at the minimum, cleanly lined and colored!

  • Other container traits have been simplified to Solid Container, Glittery Container, Fluid in Container, Cracked Container, and No Trinkets.
  • Goopy/Drippy Body Parts has been added as a rare trait and Drippy Cheek Gel now falls under it
  • Plant and Fungal growth have been merged into one trait (Plant growth) and are now both uncommon
  • Flaming has been merged into Abnormal Body Type
  • Multiple Tongues, Multiple Tails, and Multiple Ears now falls under Extra Limbs/Facial Features
  • Chest Container Placement now falls under Torso Container Placement
  • All prompt traits are now available on bitlings, minus chest pouch
  • Multiform has been added as an Adopt trait
  • Multiple Heads has been added as an Adopt trait

  • Short/Mid-Length Horns are now Common
  • Short/Mid-Length Tail is now Uncommon
  • Crystal Growth is now Rare
  • Cracked Container is now Uncommon

The Fall Festival:

This event is split into several different parts: A dialogue event, foraging/crafting, art prompts, and an event shop.

There will also be a new daily for the duration of this event - everyday you may claim a few random crafting supplies! It is located here and you can also find it via the dailies link on the nav bar.

This event will last from today (11/16/2023) till 1/16/2024, giving you 2 months to get through the event!

The Fall Festival Dialogue Event:

This is our first dialogue event ever, we hope you enjoy it! You can read the story of the event here, and to access the rest of the event you need to complete it and redeem the code at the end!

The script for this event was written by GalacticRing!

Foraging and Crafting:

Go looking around for supplies for the festival with foraging, and craft what you find into items!

Foraging:

  • Everyday (from now until the end of the event) you’ll be able to send a character out to forage from a few locations to gather supplies.
  • They may forage up to 3 times a day before getting exhausted. The first day you forage, you will be limited to one time!
  • It will take 5 minutes for them to look around and find supplies to bring back to you.
  • Occasionally your character won’t be able to find any usable supplies, but bring back some crayons instead.
  • You may get started on this before finishing the dialogue event!
  • The foraging page is located here and under “World” on the nav bar.

Crafting:

  • With the supplies gathered from foraging you can craft food and party supplies.
  • By completing a set of items (all food, or all decorations) you can claim crayons and some items. Items must be crafted by you to earn these rewards and they may only be claimed once. To claim these you must submit to the relevant prompt!
  • Afterwards you may sell any extra items you craft from your inventory to earn crayons.
  • All crafting recipes can be viewed here or in the encyclopedia!

Art Prompts:

There are two art/writing prompts you can complete to earn more crayons and crafting supplies! One that is repeatable, and one that isn't. You can view both the prompts on the prompt page, located here.

User Shops:

You may now set up your own shop on site! Here you can sell your extra supplies and items!

You may decorate your shop as you please, however your shopfront must be SFW and not contain any gore or other inappropriate imagery. Swearing is alright, however slurs or any offensive language is not.

Event Shop:

A small event shop has been set up! Here you may spend crayons to buy random crafting supplies, along with some discounted MYO slots.

Free MYO Event:

Along with all of the above we are hosting a free MYO event! Everyone (FTO or not!) may claim one free common Gachagon and Bitling MYO slot. To claim your slot you must comment on the toyhou.se bulletin. You may get trait upgrades in several ways.

  1. You can upgrade your slots from common to uncommon simply by reading the dialogue event and using the claim code at the end.
  2. You can get a rare upgrade + 1 sacred trait by sharing the Toyhou.se bulletin and tagging at least one person in the comments. The person you tag cannot be a current, active member of the species. Tagging someone who is inactive is fine however! As a note, this rare upgrade does not allow you to use uncommon traits. To gain access to them you must read the dialogue event.

Along with this all Gachagons/Bitlings made via this event can be redeemed for x2 crayons in art redemption from now 11/15/2023 until 1/16/2024!

Creamsicle redesign:

We have decided to redesign our mascot, Creamsicle, to simplify her! Her new design can be seen below, and on her masterlist entry!

Thank you all so much for reading, and we hope you enjoy our event! There’s been a lot of ups and downs for all of us, but in the end we’re all excited to begin ramping up activity in the species again.

MiscELLANY

  • Referring people to the site now gives out rewards! If you are found to be making new accounts exclusively to take advantage of this you will recieve a strike, or potentially a ban depending on how many accounts you make to do so.

Event art credits:

  • Digimon - Food and party supplies, Fall Daily art
  • Bustersw0rd - Crafting supplies, supply box, slot upgrades, and talk sprites
  • LobCorp - Foraging page art, news images

December 2023 Newsletter

Posted 5 months ago :: Last edited 2 weeks ago by 39friend

Hi everyone! Monthly news for you all. Sorry this is a little late!

Species Anatomy Tightening

We are, going forward, going to be much more strict regarding the anatomy of all keep species in general and in MYO approval - please keep in mind that all three species are intended to be dragons, and we want that to show as such!
Gachagons and Scribblies must always have a cheek light, a gacha pouch, visible gacha balls, and either a 'V' shaped or slit (like a snake) nose.
Bitlings must always have a container (and trinkets within said container), and they do not have a nose!

The only exceptions to these are if the relevent traits have been added (no light, opaque fluid, abnormal body, no trinkets, etc.)

MYO/Fall Event Reminder

As a reminder, our MYO event is still on-going and will be open until January 16th, 2024! You do not have to be a new user to participate. More info can be found here!

Hello everyone! Monthly news for you all.

As mentioned previously in an announcement in our Discord server, we are finally coming off hiatus! Due to general busyness within our mod team, we unfortunately weren't able to get the entirety of our plans out in one complete newsletter - the second part will be posted in Mid September if all goes smoothly - it may be a bit of a slow start back up, but we appreciate any and all patience, and hope you are enjoying the species.

Final Trait Changes:

For the past several months during hiatus, we've been attempting to rework traits for both Gachagons and Bitlings just due to general discontent with how they'd been previous, feeling it generally necessary to simplify, and community feedback we've received over time. We hope that you find what we've decided upon to be simpler and easier to understand, and that you like it! Bitlings will be handled in our next newsletter - for now, here is a list of changes to Gachagons:

  • Teeth traits have been removed, minus long fangs/tusks (which have been merged into one trait). Abnormal teeth have been moved to fall under the Abnormal Body trait
  • You are no longer required to list your Gachagons currency and prize - it is optional
  • Dark and colored sclera have been merged into one trait (colored sclera) and are now both uncommon
  • Plant and Fungal growth have been merged into one trait (Plant growth) and are now both uncommon
  • Synthetic body parts has been added as a trait
  • Event trait have been removed and resorted into different already existing traits
    • Stick Horns -> Horns + Plant Growth
    • Compass cheek light -> Abnormal body + Patterned Cheeklight
    • Diorama -> Abnormal Body
    • Balloon Limbs -> Object Body Parts
    • Candles -> Object Body Parts (this trait is only needed if the candle replaces a part of the body, simply having candles as an accessory is untraited)
    • Elemental Parts -> Synthetic Body Parts
    • Fabric Patches -> Synthetic Body Parts
    • Food Parts -> This trait is staying its own thing, however it has been changed to be rare
    • Lantern -> Object Body Parts
    • Pinata Fur -> Abnormal Body
    • Plush Limbs -> Synthetic Body Parts
    • Stick Spikes -> Plant Growth
    • Visible Bones -> This trait is staying its own thing, however it has been changed to be a prompt trait.
    • Will-O-Wisps -> This trait is staying its own thing, however it has been changed to be rare
    • Wispy Parts -> Synthetic Body Parts
  • Two Sets of ears/wings now falls under Extra Limbs
  • All wing traits (minus gliding wings and seraph wings) are now condensed into no wings (common) and wings (common)
  • Spiral light has been removed as a trait and is now allowed as an untraited thing
  • Drippy cheek light and Drippy Pouch are now obtainable via jelly/gooey body parts
  • Gacha ball traits have been condensed to Simple Gacha balls (common) and Shaped Gacha balls (sacred). Colors/Patterns/Glitter is no longer traited
  • Glittery Fluid and Wave Shimmer have been condensed into one trait, Glittery fluid (uncommon)
  • Objects in Fluid has been bumped down to rare
  • Glow-In-The-Dark has been bumped down to common
  • Functional Hand parts has been moved to the “Prompt” rarity
  • Magic Aura Wings are now Synthetic Body Parts + Wings

Any event items that were used to give out any of the event traits have been deleted, and users who have them have been granted a corresponding sticker!

Moderator Changes/Additions:

Please welcome GalacticRing, LobCorp and redcrowz as new general moderators! We are glad to have them on the team going forward.

yugioh and KrinkleFry87 have also been promoted from permanent guest artists to general moderators!

A few of our mods have also stepped down, thank you togeticky and WeiWuxian for your help over the year! :] Bustersw0rd has also stepped down to the role of permanent guest artist!

Changes to Art Redemption:

You no longer have to submit your artwork to the Art Redemption prompt to receive crayons - when submitting to the Art Redemption gallery, there will now be criterias you fill out instead of a form. The Art Redemption guide has been updated to reflect this, please read over it before asking any questions!

Revival of Bitlings + Event preview

Bitlings, a subspecies/failed recreation of Gachagons, were an additional species created by the old owner of Gachagons, Sunfever_ a few years back before transfer in ownership. We unfortunately haven't done as much as we would have liked with Bitlings since then, but with the ending of our hiatus we have decided to give Bitlings a bit of the limelight as to hopefully make them feel more of a part of the wider species as a whole. More on this will be touched upon in our next (non-monthly) newsletter, along with some events - a lore based event, and a free MYO event - coming soon.

General Site Additions

We have decided to add a few more extra features to the site to both improve user experience and make the site a more stand-alone thing - we hope you enjoy the additions!

  • On-site direct messages - you may now message individual users and staff directly on-site.
  • WYSIWYG comments -'What You See Is What You Get'
  • Pronoun field - a pronoun section has been added to your account settings and can be edited at any time, viewable on your profile and any site comments you make. This section is strictly for pronouns only.
  • New staff page - there is now a dedicated staff page for each individual member/other non-staff system accounts (voided characters, NPC account, etc.), including individual contact information, usernames, etc. You can view it here.
  • Username changing - you may now change your site username from your account settings every 30 days without needing help from a moderator. Please keep usernames appropriate!
  • The monthly prompt now enters you into a raffle for a Gachagon based off the theme of the month! We'll do our best to do so every month, but please keep in mind a lot of our staff are generally really busy!

September Prompt

This month’s theme is AUTUMN! Draw and/or write about how your Gachagons/other keep species feel about autumn. Is it their favorite season? Do they enjoy falling leaves? This prompt is vague, so feel free to interpret it as you wish!

The September prompt will last till September 30th!

RULES (ILLUSTRATED)

  • Your illustration must be (at the least) a halfbody with a semi-scenic background! (We should be able to tell there's depth to the piece!)
  • Your illustration must be, at the minimum, cleanly lined and colored!

This months raffle gacha can be seen below! To enter for them you must do the monthly prompt. :]

Miscellany

  • The navigation bar has changed a bit!
  • Gachapanion Dailies have been discontinued for now along with the gachapanion bonding prompt - we are working on reworking Gachapanions behind the scenes at the moment.
  • The daily rewards link has been updated, and is now active again!
  • All site guides have been redone, along with the staff and NPC page being updated!
  • Bitling and Gachapanion MYO items have been removed from the shops temporarily while we rework these species. You may not send Bitlings or Gachapanions in for approval until we are done reworking them - an announcement will be made once we are done.
  • As a general reminder please be kind to our staff, Digimon is still currently homeless and a few of our staff have factors irl that keep them busy. We are all doing our best, any sort of rude remarks to our staff will be met with a warning or potentially a ban depending on the severaity.

Thank you for sticking around! We're sorry this took so long, and that our plans arent even complete at this stage. We hope you enjoy what we have in store! Please keep an eye out for our next newsletter. :]
