Summer Treats

Stretching before pawing open the window to the kitchen, Lovebug squints as soon as the sun hits their eyes. They sigh soon after, though, happy to feel the warmth of the sun hitting their fur. It's finally the start of summer, and she can't wait. Summer is generally the most bustling time of the year, so more opportunities to help baby Gachagons, more opportunities to help others out, to bake for everyone she knows... what isn't there for her to love!

...Ah, the sheer brightness of the sun if she looks at it too long. That's right. She rubs her eye as she turns away, almost not hearing the other set of paws and hooves entering the room. Before she can open her eyes properly and double check for herself, she's assured it's Buttercup by the immediate nuzzle to the side of her face. She can't help but laugh, especially once she sees the smile on Buttercup's face. "Good morning!" They smile wide, tail wagging behind them. "You got up early to start baking already, huh?"

"Well, you know me," Lovebug says sheepishly. "I like to get as much out of the day as I can. Plus, it's-"

"I know!!! It's summer now!!! The sun's out earlier and brighter and warmer than ever!"

Lovebug laughs, her tail swaying happily. "Exactly. It motivates me to get up earlier, you know?" 

"You always get up early."

"...Fair." The two of them laugh, Lovebug looking around for her favorite cookbook. "I was thinking we could spend the weekend baking so when people start dropping their kids off at the daycare, we'll have plenty to share for the start of the season. What do you think?"

Lovebug turns around, noticing Buttercup already digging for ingredients. They chuckle softly, walking over to join them. "We haven't even picked a recipe."

"But all cookies are basically the same, right? I've got this!"

Lovebug rolls their eyes at them, but can't help laughing to themself. "I suppose you're right. You do that while I pick out a recipe." She walks back to the cookbook, eyeing it over. She has plenty of cookbooks she's bought from all sorts of places over the years, but her favorite is this one she and Buttercup have assembled with all their particular favorites. It's more than just desserts... but, majorly desserts. The two have that in common- a massive sweet tooth. The kids they look over don't seem to mind either, though.

Lovebug perks up at the sound of activity outside the window, noticing several Keep creatures wandering around and socializing. It makes them smile. This is exactly why they love living somewhere more lively- when days are more bright like this, they get to witness everyone out and about and living their lives! 

...They're quickly snapped out of their thoughts by the sound of stuff tumbling to the ground, though. They turn around noticing Buttercup knocked over the entire pile of trays. This is... far from the first time they've done this. Lovebug just laughs it off, walking over to help them put everything back in place.

"So, I was thinking ice cream sandwiches," Lovebug mumbles, placing the last tray on the stack before closing the cupboard.

"Oooooh! That's perfect! It'll help 'em all cool down after playing outside!"

"Exactly. Good job piecing that together," Lovebug purrs, tail swaying at Buttercup's side. The two of them laugh together, gathering everything so they can start the baking portion of this plan.

And maybe later, head to a nearby store to get a lot of ice cream. No one can complain if they do- it just means more money for those vendors, and plenty of treats for the little ones.
