Ganys Bakes a Cake
This already seemed too complicated.
That's what Ganys thought as they looked at the recipe for a "Geode Cake". Soup, their housemate, had suggested it try a more productive activity rather than just causing mischief, especially with everyone running around preparing for Valentines Day.
It held the paper in its claws, the hue of its body changing from a sour green to an equally sour blue.
"..Well, I guess this is happening.." they grumbled as they set the paper on the counter and got out a bowl and a mixer, then some of the dry and wet ingredients.
-
It really seemed like a montage out of Ratatouille, the steady rhythm as the Gacha whipped the eggs and sugar together, the puffs of dust from the flour as it was poured into the whipped mix, even the motion of Ganys fumbling with the measuring cup of hot milk and butter as it took it from the microwave-
It was actually having fun!
Next was pouring the mixtures together. The milk had to be just warm enough to not cook the eggs- and Ganys also couldn't rush the pour.
Careful….careful...almost…
Done!
Next was putting the batter into cake pans, which was the easiest part so far. The oven was already preheated, so once the batter was poured, the pans were popped straight in and the timer was set.
While the cake was baking, Ganys had some time to think about how they wanted to decorate the cake. What colors did it want to use for the geode? Would it be one big geode, or multiple small ones? What color frosting?
"Hmm..there's always green, thats a nice one..wait, no-" they interrupted themselves, "blue!...Ehhh- no.."
This was...surprisingly difficult.
"Well- I could always just do a few diff'rent ones? Maybe...yeahh, that seems like a good option." It grinned and washed its claws before going to the pantry to grab the rock candy.
After retrieving the sweets, they took some time to organize most of it by color (stealing a few handfuls for itself of course). Then was the getting out ingredients for the frosting, and the food coloring, and the spatulas, and everything else they may need-
Then the timer dinged.
The cakes were removed from the oven and set on a rack to cool, the dishes from the batter were moved to the sink to give the Gacha room to work.
-
Some time later, everything was finally done. The cake was made and decorated, just sitting, glorious, on the kitchen counter; a proud Ganys was standing nearby. The Gacha had gone back to green, smiling as the just observed their creation.
...that is- until they noticed the dishes piled up in the sink. They really should have washed them as they worked.
